Abstract

Two alternative procedures to measure the temperature distribution in an axisymmetric hot water jet using the principle of speckle photography are reported. The two methods differ in the position of the speckle generator with respect to the jet and light source. They produce comparable results, but the uncertainties associated with them are different owing to dissimilar fringe visibilities.
