Abstract

This paper presents simulation study of four port Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna system for 5G mobile communication. The proposed MIMO system consists of four meandered-line folded antennas on the corners of long edges and defected grounded structure (DGS) on the horizontal surface of mobile phone having main board of size 150×75 mm 2 . The proposed MIMO antenna system is operating at 3.5 GHz with isolation of greater than 20 dB. The meandered-line folded structure helps to miniaturize the size of antennas whereas the introduced DGS improves the isolation between antennas. The arrangement of antennas on the vertical edges provides larger space on the main board for the placement of other circuit components. The proposed MIMO configuration achieves good impedance matching, isolation with ECC less than 0.03 over sub-6 GHz operating frequency band which makes it suitable for future 5G mobile communication application.
