We have measured the rise of temperature in superconducting aluminum bolometers under irradiation of thermal phonon pulses. Using experimentally confirmed model calculations, the frequency dependent phonon absorption can be derived as a fit parameter. A comparison is made to the earlier determined phonon absorption in tin and lead.
