Abstract

1. The maxium elastic deformations of concrete depend linearly on tensile strength and can be described by a general equation both for gravel concrete and for rubble concrete, Eqs. (2) and (3). Equal-strength (in tension) gravel and rubble concretes have the same values of maximum elastic deformations. 2. The pseudoplastic deformations measured by two opposite instruments depend randomly on the position of the instruments relative to the zone in which at first microruptures and then a through crack form intensely. 3. A comparison of pseudoplastic deformation of type I in gravel and rubble concretes indicates the presence of a trend toward an increase of pseudoplastic deformations in rubble concrete. 4. When a crack penetrates into an artificial defect it opens more than in a specimen without a defect.
