Abstract

With the continuous promotion of renewable energy, photovoltaic power generation systems have developed rapidly. However, they faced local partial shading problems such as cloud cover, unclean photovoltaic cell surface, building shading, etc., which will cause partial shading and affect the output characteristics of the photovoltaic arrays and leading to the voltage-power multi-peak phenomenon. Since the photovoltaic array will produce a voltage-power multi-peak curve under partial shading, the traditional MPPT method, which is designed according to a single-peak curve of uniform illumination, will fall into local optimal. Therefore, a particle swarm algorithm with global search capability is employed for MPPT control. The algorithm is verified that it can track the maximum power point with Matlab/Simulink simulation.
