Abstract

The settling mathematics model and numerical method is the main topic in the recent study about sedimentation process. The ideal particular materials are chosen as testing materials, in which the flocculation among the solids particles does not take place or slight flocculation takes place based on material nature characteristics. However, they can not reflect the actual industry sedimentation process. In this paper, the author uses the sedimentation model and the partial different equation numerical solution, which are set up by phenomenological theory and mathematics theory to conduct a numerical simulation for the flocculation sedimentation of two kinds of materials-magnetic tailings and floatation tailings, and make the tests according to the actual flocculation sedimentation. Through comparison and analyzing the data of the two-liters sedimentation and simulation, the results show that the sedimentation model can describe the industrial sedimentation process with polymer, and can be considered as the theory foundation of the industrial sedimentation process design and the sizing of the sedimentation equipment.
