Abstract

The work is devoted to the simulation of a multi-stage separation cascade of electrolyzers, designed to produce heavy water as the main product while producing light water as a by-product. The calculation is based on the model of an ideal countercurrent separation cascade without mixing at the entrance to each stage, in which one of the cut coefficients can be chosen arbitrarily in the range of its allowable values, and the value of which is an optimization parameter. It is assumed that taking into account the optimization of the design of the electrolyzer and taking into account energy recovery, the cost of light water will be about $ 0.09/kg, and the cost of heavy water about $ 945/kg.
