In the context of the rapid development of information technologies, software quality is becoming critical for the successful operation of organizations in various industries. The growing complexity of modern software solutions requires the involvement of highly qualified specialists in software testing and quality assessment, capable of effectively identifying shortcomings and ensuring that the product meets established standards. At the same time, assessing the level of competence of such experts remains a difficult task, which is often based on subjective criteria and methods. The relevance of the study is due to the acute need of the modern IT market for objective tools for assessing the professional level of specialists, especially in the field of software quality assurance. Traditional approaches to qualification assessment, such as interviews, test tasks or resume analysis, often do not provide a complete and objective picture of the expert's competence. This problem becomes especially acute in the conditions of the global labor market, when companies are forced to evaluate specialists remotely, relying only on a limited set of data on their experience and skills. Today, software has become an integral part of many areas of our everyday life - from automation and optimization of production processes to creating comfort for an individual. The object of the study is the process of determining the level of competence of experts in software quality assessment. The subject of the study is a mathematical model for calculating the level of competence of an expert. The practical value of the results of the work is determined by the possibility of using the developed system by HR managers for effective selection of specialists, by heads of QA departments for the formation of balanced testing teams, by certification centers for objective assessment of competence, as well as by the experts themselves for planning their own professional development. Conclusion the developed mathematical model for calculating the level of competence of an expert allows you to reduce the time for assessing the competence of specialists, minimize the influence of subjective factors when making personnel decisions, and optimize the distribution of human resources in software development and testing projects.

Enhancing software quality remains a main objective for software developers and engineers, with a specific emphasis on improving software stability to increase user satisfaction. By utilizing a system dynamics model and a set of defined rules, we can effectively simulate and illustrate the impacts of testing and debugging processes on the growth of software reliability. This method simplifies the complex mathematical derivations that are commonly associated with traditional models, making it more accessible for real-world applications. The key innovation of our approach lies in its ability to create a dynamic and interactive model that captures the various elements influencing software reliability. This includes factors such as resource allocation, testing efficiency, error detection rates, and the feedback loops among these elements. By simulating different scenarios, software developers and project managers can gain deeper insights into the impact of their decisions on software quality and testing efficiency. This can provide valuable insights for decision-making and strategy formulation in software development and quality assurance.

Software industry is a key force leading a new round of technological revolution and occupies an important position in the development of the global economy. Software quality is of great significance to promote the healthy and orderly development of the software industry, and software testing is also a reliable means to ensure software quality. Standardization as a technical means to regulate software quality and software testing, can improve software product quality, reduce software development and testing costs. It can also provide guidance and support for the development of the software industry. This paper gives a detailed description of the international standardization of software quality and software testing and analyzes the relationship between software quality and software testing. Finally, it summarizes the problems and suggestions of software quality and testing standards. This paper is beneficial for demanders, developers, independent evaluation parties, quality assurance and control personnel to understand and use the relevant standards of software quality and testing.

This article describes empirical research results regarding the "history effect" in software quality evaluation processes. Most software quality models and evaluation processes models assume that software quality may be deterministically evaluated, especially when it is evaluated by experts. Consequently, software developers focus on the technical characteristics of the software product. A similar assumption is common in most engineering disciplines. However, in regard to other kinds of goods, direct violations of the assumption about objective evaluation were shown to be affected by the consequences of cognitive processes limitations. Ongoing discussion in the area of behavioral economics raises the question: are the experts prone to observation biases? If they are, then software quality models overlook an important aspect of software quality evaluation. This article proposes an experiment that aims to trace the influence of users' knowledge on software quality assessment. Measuring the influence of single variables for the software quality perception process is a complex task. There is no valid quality model for the precise measurement of product quality, and consequently software engineering does not have tools to freely manipulate the quality level for a product. This article proposes a simplified method to manipulate the observed quality level, thereby making it possible to conduct research. The proposed experiment has been conducted among professional software evaluators. The results show the significant negative influence (large effect size) of negative experience of users on final opinion about software quality regardless of its actual level.

Issue of the computer software quality has an interdisciplinary nature and it is a subject of research in numerous scientific disciplines, including the software engineering, economics, psychology and ergonomics. Considerations concerning the integration of the subjective factors with the technical parameters in respect of the computer software quality testing are not present in the literature1. Therefore, this Article comprised the results of research on the software quality assessments made by users. This Article includes four parts, which represent: the research methods, the economic conditions connected with the computer software quality assessment, the social conditions and the Summary. The first part of the Article discusses the method of correspondence as well as the typology of the economic and social working conditions that were used to create the correlation model for the computer software assessment. In the second part of the Article the authors discussed the economic conditions for computer software assessment that were qualified to one of the three groups: variables that describe: organizational and technical situation, self assessment of the employee's position in the company and the evaluation of the employment security. Further part of this Article is dedicated to correlation between the social issues and the computer software quality assessment. The four variables: sight affections, monotony of work, work intensiveness as well as the psychophysical affections were classified under a single group titled Employee Health Hazards. This Article is concluded with Summary, where the authors indicated the essentiality of economic and social issues in the computer software quality assessment.

Software quality is difficult to define because there is no single comprehensive and complete standard definition of its lexicon. The quality of software is difficult to accomplish as there is no definite way and not explicit necessities of each and every customer. The quality of any software is the measure of effectiveness and customer satisfaction. In present era, all software companies have a face up to make quality software within projected time and cost. The quality of software can be measured in terms of distinct phases of software development life cycle and after analyzing the each factor in term of parameters like cost/benefit analysis, reliability, customer satisfaction and many more. The better source of providing the quality may be a scale through which we can give quality to software but before proceeding standards a testing of software through different types is also an important task.

Consistency-Driven Pairwise Comparisons Approach to Software Product Management and Quality Measurement

In this study, the software product quality measurement, based on the consistency-drive pairwise comparisons (PC) is proposed as a new way of approaching this complicated problem. The assessment of software quality (SQ) is a complex process. It is usually done by experts who use their knowledge and experience. Their subjective assessments certainly involve inaccuracy (which is difficult to control) and consistency of assessments (which can be measured and may influence accuracy). The inconsistency analysis, which is proposed in this approach, is used to improve assessments. Weights, reflecting the relative importance of the attributes, are computed as opposed to the commonly practiced arbitrary assignment. The PC method allows to define a consistency measure and use it as a validation technique. A consistency-driven knowledge acquisition, supported by a properly designed software, contributes to the improvement of quality of knowledge-based systems.

Truth and myth of independent software testing

Organizations often outsource software testing activities to optimize software testing and verify developed software by independent experts. Related benefits include expectations for higher software quality and anticipated commercial benefits, but have not been empirically evaluated yet. To close this gap, we hypothesize independent software testing to positively impact software quality and test our hypothesis in a controlled human experiment. We investigate the functional quality of six functionally identical systems developed in software projects by six teams of five students each. Of these six teams, three tested their software themselves, while the others used independent testing teams. On system-testing level, we compare the fulfillment of predefined software functions by applying function point analysis. The results show that independent software testing has a positive impact on software quality. Using t-tests, we show functional completeness of software tested by independent testers to be significantly higher (16%) than the functional completeness of software tested by software developers themselves. Our work provides insights into decision-making on software test outsourcing. While the expected higher quality of the products is corroborated by the experiment, there is a need for further research studies. With our experiment, we raise practitioners' awareness to consciously deal with independent software testing.

Research and Establishment of Quality Cost Oriented Software Testing Model

In a competitive market, quality is essential to the software. Software test plays an important role during the software-developing period. Any saving on software test will greatly reduce the total cost of software. The key point of this paper is to build a software test process with the cost control management and to make tradeoff between the quality and the cost. Typical software testing model are analyzed and compared. A novel QC 3-D test model is introduced. The model combined with software test process, software quality cost and testing type. The computational formula is defined to calculate software quality cost. A software quality balance law is introduced to balance control cost and failure cost. By adjusting software test method and strategy, organization can reach the objective of the best balance between software quality and cost. An enterprise case is studied and the result is analyzed to prove the basic law. The result shows an optimistic point that will prove the accurate of the model and the law

Software Quality Assessment Model: A New Approach for Software Testing Tools

The process of software testing is a crucial phase in determining the quality of software, and this phase requires significant costs and a considerable amount of time for testers. This paper discusses the development of a framework for software quality assessment, involving flexible choices of software testing methods and variables in the form of an application. The method used is experimental, developing a new framework based on previous research, where previous research was limited to specific methods and testing variables. The result of this research is the creation of a new framework for software quality assessment. It is hoped that this framework can serve as a reference for software companies in evaluating software quality. In terms of complexity, this framework has the advantage of allowing a tester to choose methods with more flexible or unlimited testing variables. Regarding the estimated time and costs, with [Formula: see text], the practical application complexity of the developed framework is estimated to have the best costs, time and human resources at IDR 254,240,000, with an estimated time of 3,178 work hours and 6,356 work hours with a team of 3 people.

When Research Software Goes to Class: Lessons From Embedding Research Software Into Teaching

Background: Software is at the core of most scientific discoveries today, and the reliability of research results increasingly depends on the quality of the software that underpins them. However, research software is often developed under constraints that prioritize scientific progress over engineering rigor, leaving little to no incentive for maintenance, documentation, or quality assurance. Objective: This study examines whether embedding an existing research software into a software testing course can contribute to improving the quality of the research software and identifies the associated challenges. Method: In an in vivo experiment, we embedded a large-scale network simulation into a university course on software testing at Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden, as a group project and observed the effects on the research software. Results: We found that the research software benefited from the embedding through substantially improved documentation and fewer hardware and software dependencies. However, the embedding required significant additional effort from us, and although the student teams produced thoughtful and well-designed test suites, none of their code contributions could be merged into the research software due to uncertainties around intellectual property. Conclusion: We strongly believe that embedding research software engineering activities into teaching can enhance the quality of research software while providing students with exposure to research. However, the uncertainty about the intellectual property of students’ code contributions substantially limits its potential.

Software Quality Assurance consists of monitoring the software engineering processes and ensuring the highest quality. But, the software quality attributes that we deal with are not explicit in the outset and cannot be easily measured. The same attribute has multiple significance and importance in multiple contexts. The user, the developer and the manager of a software product may have different stands regarding the significance of a quality attribute. A software quality engineer, while measuring the total software quality should provide appropriate weight to each of the decision makers. This chapter proposes a fuzzy multi-criteria approach to measure the total software quality and to identify the best alternative from a set of software products.

Methodology of Evaluating the Sufficiency of Information for Software Quality Assessment According to ISO 25010

The research is devoted to the development of the formalized and ontological models of the software quality according to ISO 25010. These models provide the possibility of the formalization of the software quality assessment according to ISO 25010. This standard would benefit from a formal description. The paper proves that information sufficiency is a critical aspect of software quality assessment. The methods and system of evaluating the sufficiency of the information for software quality assessment according to ISO 25010 are developed. The developed methods and tools provide the increasing the veracity of software quality assessment. The conducted experiments confirm that the developed methodology of evaluating the sufficiency of information for software quality assessment increased the veracity of the software quality assessment in 12% for the automated system for large-format photo print.

Methodological foundation for improving the quality of intelligent decision-making system software

On the basis of a detailed analysis, existing terminological interpretations of the concept of "software quality" have been generalized, conclusions are drawn about the correspondence of the terms used to assess the quality of general software in the process of assessing the quality of software of intelligent decision-making systems (IDMS). It has been proved that the quality of the IDMS software is a complex multi-criteria indicator that takes into account not only the performance of the individual software module as a subsystem, but also the causal relationships of the elements of the software system itself. The main differences in software quality assessment between the functional and formal approaches are shown. The structure of the criterion of guarantor capacity of decision-making systems software has been investigated and conclusions have been drawn on the influence of its main components on the evaluation of IDMS software and on the provision of reliable computing process. On the basis of the analysis of the list of attributes and the quality metric of the IDMS software, it is established that the guarantee is determined by the reliability of the software structure itself and is characterised by the restoration of the functional state after failures or failures. The interrelationship and influence of IDMS software design quality indicators on the characteristics and sub-characteristics of the IDMS software is established, an example of the interrelationship between characteristics (factors) and quality indicators, the method of measuring quality indicators and design processes is given. On the basis of the conducted research, IDMS software denial regimes have been defined and their impact on the decision-making process has been shown. Detailed classes of failures and their influence on compliance of IDMS software with the task of development are shown. It has been shown that the reliability of IDMS is a dynamic concept, manifested in time, and is strongly dependent on the presence / absence of defects in the interaction. A detailed analysis of methods of software quality assurance and control has been carried out, and conclusions have been drawn on the possibility of their application IDMS software. The maturity model of the IDMS software has been improved and validated, and the maturity structure of the software as an indicator of the quality of the IDMS has been introduced.
