Abstract

The mathematical aspects of fluid and plasma dynamics — in paradise! The setting was so beautiful that most of the conference participants quickly embraced the word — paradise — used by natives and tourists alike for lovely Maui, and the Hawaiian Islands in general. With more than seventy of the world's most active researchers working on the mathematics of kinetic theory, fluid dynamics, plasma physics and semi-conductor devices in attendance, the Fifth International Workshop on Mathematical Aspects of Fluid and Plasma Dynamics was held in Wailea, Maui, Hawaii, 28 June to 3 July 1998.
