Abstract

Editor, A 54-year old female patient (height 165 cm, weight 58 kg, ASA II) was scheduled for elective glaucoma surgery. In addition to the glaucoma, the patient suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which was treated with inhalative b2-adrenergic agonists and inhalative corticosteroids, and sleeping impairments that were under treatment with clomipramine, which had been discontinued 36 h prior to anaesthesia. The patient showed no difficulties in opening the mouth and the distance between upper and lower incision teeth was more than 4 cm, resulting in a reported Mallampati score of II. Previous medical history revealed two general anaesthesias without any complications. No premedication was prescribed.
