Abstract

objective:To screen differential proteins or protein groups with stem cell characteristics.methods:Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis was used to separate total proteins from intestinal side population cells and intestinal epithelial cells of neonatal mice. Proteins which were differentially expressed more than 1.5 times were selected for mass spectrometry analysis as well as database retrieval and identification.results:The two-dimensional electrophoresis patterns of intestinal side population cells and intestinal epithelial cells were successfully established to screen 39 differential protein spots. Thirty-two kinds of proteins were identified using the mass spectrometry analysis and database retrieval.conclusion:There were differences between the protein expression profiles of mouse intestinal epithelial cells and stem cells. The identified 32 kinds of proteins may become potential and valuable molecular markers for identification of intestinal stem cells.
