Abstract
This brief paper has three objectives. First, we want to defend the thesis that post-marxism is largely a misnomer based on a dubious reading of Marx's own work and that of the marxist tradition. Second, we want to argue for the reexamination of what is original in Marx so that we neither miss the crucial lessons he taught, nor laboriously and wastefully reinvent his wheel. Finally, we will illustrate our general argument with a brief focus on one particular line of postmarxist theory.
