Market research analysis of jack bean-based tempeh using consumer preferences and conjoint analysis method in Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar
Tempeh is one of the most commonly consumed plant-based protein sources in Indonesia. However, heavy reliance on imported soybeans undermines national food security. As an alternative, jack bean-based tempeh (Canavalia ensiformis) offers promising potential due to its high protein and antioxidant content. Currently, this product is still in development and not widely available in the Aceh region. Initial production has begun in Java, especially in Bogor, which has successfully introduced jack bean tempeh as a food security alternative. This product serves as a benchmark in this study, which explores its potential acceptance in Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar. The research aimed to analyze consumer preferences for jack bean-based tempeh to identify market opportunities and develop appropriate marketing strategies. Based on conjoint analysis, the most influential attribute in purchasing decisions is the product label (15.818%), followed by packaging, texture, size, certification, promotional media, point of purchase, brand, and label type. The most preferred combination includes smooth texture, banana leaf packaging, medium size, halal and BPOM certification, a traditional brand name, complete label information, sticker-type labeling, availability in traditional markets, and promotion through social media.

Development is the pattern of continuity and change in human capacities that occur throughout life. The majority of development focuses on growth, although it also covers decline (for example, physical ability may deteriorate with age). Disability is more than just an impairment; it is the result of the interaction of a person's limitations with their environment, whether physical or mental, and is a multidimensional phenomenon that includes bodily functions, activity limitations, barriers to participation, and environmental factors. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between religious coping and self-acceptance in children with physical disabilities in Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar. This study uses a quantitative method with sampling based on proportionate stratified random sampling. The sample size was 208 parents. In this study, two scales have been utilized: the religious coping scale, which is based on aspects of Alfakseir (2011), and the self-acceptance scale, which is based on aspects of Berger (1952). The study's findings demonstrate a correlation coefficient of r=0.504 with p=0.000, indicating that parents of children with physical disabilities in Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar are more self-accepting. In contrast, the lower the religious coping, the lower the self-acceptance of parents with physically disabled children in Aceh Besar and Banda Aceh.

Antioxidants are used to retard the reaction of organic materials with atmospheric oxygen. Such reaction can cause degradation of the properties of the polymer; loss of flavor and development of rancidity in foods; and a change in lubricants. The need for antioxidants depends on the chemical composition of the substrate and the conditions of exposure. High concentrations of antioxidants, ie, 0.5–2% based on the weight of he polymer, are used to stabilize polymers such as natural rubber and polyunsaturated oils. Saturated polymers have greater oxidative stability and require relatively low concentrations of stabilizers; ie, 0.01–0.05%, based on the weight of the polymer. The mechanism by which an organic material (RH) undergoes autoxidation involves a free‐redical chain reaction. High concentrations are also required in substrates that are highly sensitive to oxidation, such as unsaturated elastomers and acrylonitrile–butadiene–styrene (ABS). Thermally induced homolytic decomposition of peroxides and hydroperoxides to free radicals increases the rate of oxidation. Decomposition to nonradical species removes hydroperoxides as potential sources of oxidation initiators. The selection of an antioxidant or system of antioxidants is dependent on the polymer and the anticipated end use. Low concentrations of antioxidants ( < 0.01%) are added to polyethylene and polypropylene after synthesis and prior to isolation to retard oxidation of the polymers exposed to air. Polyunsaturated elastomers are sensitive to oxidation. Antioxidants are added to the elastomers prior to vulcanization to protect the rubber during drying and storage. Nonstaining antioxidants may be used. Staining antioxidants are preferred for the manufacture of tires. Gasoline and jet engine fuels contain unsaturated compounds that oxidize on storage, darken, and form gums and deposits. Radical scanvengers and alkylated paraphenylene diamines are used as stabilizers. Lubricants for gasoline engines are required to withstand harsh conditions. Relatively high concentrations of primary antioxidants and synergists are used to stabilize lubricating oils. The oxidation of food containing fats and oils results in a loss of sensory appeal and eventually rancidness. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations covering the use of direct food additives are stringent and few new materials have been regulated. The most commonly used materials are butylated hydroxytoluenen‐propyl gallatte, α‐tocopherol, and butylated hydroxyanisole. A number of antioxidants have been accepted by the FDA as indirect additives for polymers used in food applications.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) recorded the 2004 tsunami heights in the Indian Ocean using the DART buoy tool and survey field data in the land side of Banda Aceh. Furthermore, 85 tsunami poles around Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar were used to mark the tsunami flow depth. The flow depth of the tsunami data recorded plays an important role in fostering our understanding of the physical tsunami wave generation and inundation using tsunami modeling. This study is aimed at comparing the results of the tsunami flow depth modeling in Banda Aceh with some measurement data from NOAA and Tsunami Poles. The tsunami modeling process was applied using the Cornell Multi-Grid Coupled Tsunami Model (COMCOT) computational program. We used 6 nested grids and the innermost layer covering the Banda Aceh region. The Layer 6 used for the variable Manning roughness coefficient represents the surface land use before the tsunami. We put 139 and 67 observation points on land to observe tsunami flow depth data according to NOAA and Tsunami pole coordinates, respectively. The result shows that NOAA data gave poor agreement with numerical simulations. A better result was obtained when using tsunami poles. We recommend increasing the use of the tsunami poles data as they were produced with a rigorous validation process for the 2004 tsunami.

Abstract. Dewiyanti I, Siregar PKA, Octavina C, Nurfadillah, Nurfadli, Marimuthu K. 2025. Genetic variation of the Mudskipper (Periophthalmus argentilineatus) in the mangrove ecosystem, North Coast of Aceh, Aceh Province, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 26: 6399-6409. Mudskipper (Periophthalmus argentilineatus), a species belonging to the Gobiidae family of the Perciformes order, is an important ecological indicator of mangrove health, yet information on its genetic diversity in Aceh remains limited. This study analyzes genetic variation in mudskipper populations from the northern coast of Aceh using mitochondrial Cytochrome Oxidase Subunit I (COI) gene sequencing. Although the species has been widely studied in other regions of Indonesia, no molecular genetic baseline has ever been reported for Aceh populations, creating a critical gap in understanding their genetic structure and conservation status. Twenty samples were collected in Aceh Besar and Banda Aceh populations and combined with 19 additional COI sequences obtained from GenBank. The results showed that the mudskipper species in the research locations were P. argentilineatus. In addition, P. argentilineatus populations from Aceh Besar and Banda Aceh showed no detectable genetic variation, as reflected by low genetic distance values indicating close genetic relatedness. This pattern suggests that similar environmental pressure may be contributing to genetic homogeneity between the two populations. However, genetic variation of P. argentilineatus was moderate in the Bali population, and there was a high genetic distance between the Aceh Besar and Bali populations, as well as Banda Aceh and Bali (0.393). These findings highlight the need for conservation strategies that maintain mangrove habitat integrity and promote connectivity among regional mudskipper populations. Maintaining mangrove habitat connectivity and implementing periodic genomic monitoring are critical future steps to preserve gene flow in P. argentilineatus populations along the North Coast of Aceh.
