Abstract
The article is devoted to the consideration of issues related to revealing the essence of the concept of traditional marriage and family relations, defining their scope and fundamental differences. The existing types of marriages, in addition to the legally established ones, were studied and their features were clarified. The state of legislative consolidation of norms regulating nontraditional marital and family relations has been determined. The issue of ensuring state registration of same-sex relationships in Ukraine is analyzed and options for improving the national legislation are proposed to settle controversial issues related to civil partnerships.
