Abstract
Innovations for the utilization of wastes for developing products, which are useful to society are gaining importance day-by-day. A large amount of slurry and other residues are yearly being produced by various countries as a waste product by the marble and granite (MGR) industry, causing serious threats to the environment, contaminating soil and water. Mill scale, a steel-making by-product is also being produced from the rolling mill in the steel hot rolling process. Here, we deal with a similar concept of using industrial waste like mill scale and marble slurry as a base material in construction bricks. Such bricks are of low cost, have high compressive strength and absorb less water. It will also help in overcoming the dumping problem of these wastes and also provide low cost, thermally insulating building material.
