Abstract

Certain methods of estimating very small amounts of iron (about 4 mg) in hydrochloric solution have been tested. The best results are obtained by manganometric titration of a solution reduced by stannous chloride. No indicator is needed if 0.1 N reagent is employed, but running a blank seems to be advisable. The errors in this method are even smaller than using the same oxidant after reduction in the silver microreductor.
