  • Apr 1, 2003
  • Management Science
  • Linda Argote + 2 more

Interest in the issues of organizational learning and knowledge management on the part of academics and practitioners increased dramatically in recent years. On the practical side, changes in technology and modes of organizing work, globalization, and increased competition brought the issues of organizational learning and knowledge management to center stage for organizations. New developments in computing and information technology enabled the retention and transfer of information in organizations on a larger scale than was once possible. Shifts to more distributed modes of organizing work made knowledge transfer a priority for firms. The greater prevalence of the multiunit organizational form, such as a franchise or chain (Baum and Greve 2001), and the greater frequency of interorganizational relationships (Powell et al. 1996) also increased the importance of knowledge transfer for firms. Parallel to the surge in interest among practitioners, academic interest in organizational learning and knowledge management also grew considerably, as evidenced by the proliferation of books and articles recently published on the subject.1 In addition, a

Knowledge Sharing and Service Innovation in Academic Libraries
  • Sep 5, 2023
  • European Conference on Knowledge Management
  • Omar Khalil + 1 more

Innovation is becoming a survival strategy for academic libraries, which strive to preserve their relevance and contribution. Knowledge sharing (KS) is believed to be an important factor in creating innovative capabilities and improving innovation. Yet, only scant empirical research has investigated the possible effect of KS on service innovation (SEI). This study adopted a research model to analyze the effect of KS on SEI as well as the mediating effects of information technology innovation (ITI) and management innovation (MIN) on the relationship between KS and SEI. The results are derived using a data set from two large academic libraries in Egypt. Although KS has a significant total effect on SEI, its role in augmenting SEI is only secondary since it depends mainly on the mediating roles of ITI and MIN. These results are interesting because they deviate from the assumptions and results of many previous studies on KS and SEI.

  • Isiaka Kolawole Mustapha + 3 more

Collaboration and cooperation among entrepreneurs and enterprises have created strategies to improve well-being and create sustainable businesses to foster regional development. Therefore, this paper investigates the relationship between knowledge sharing, innovation and socio-economic growth of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria's rabbit farming e-clusters space. The web survey method was adopted by employing five Likert scale questionnaires through social media platforms respondents. 78 valid respondents were collected from MSMEs in rabbit farming e-clusters. The hypothesis was tested using the structural equation modelling (SEM) approach. The finding suggests knowledge sharing, innovation capacity, and firm performance positively influence the socio-economic growth of rabbit farmers in e-cluster. Social media platforms, including WhatsApp, Facebook and Telegram, prove that farmers not in the same geographical location are not a barrier to the benefit of clusters. This study proposes that knowledge sharing, innovation capacity and firm performance within an e-cluster improved the socio-economic growth of farmers. The acceptance of a physical-less business cluster that would reduce the rural-urban migration of agribusiness can be achieved. This study contributes to the literature on knowledge transfer, innovation and firm performance in e-cluster rabbit farming. A new dimension to the Industrial Cluster model by adapting to a virtual agglomeration of business and social media platforms.

  • Jan 10, 2026
  • Journal of advanced nursing
  • Zhengang Liu + 3 more

The aim of this study was to integrate Social Exchange Theory and the Ability-Motivation-Opportunity (AMO) Theory to examine the influence of organisational innovation climate on nurses' innovative behaviour, considering the mediating role of knowledge sharing and the moderating effect of person-organisation fit, thereby providing a multidimensional theoretical foundation for enhancing nurses' innovative behaviour. A cross-sectional research design was adopted. Participants included 380 nurses from two Grade-A tertiary hospitals in Henan Province, China. Data were collected using the Organisational Innovation Climate Scale, Knowledge Sharing Scale, Nurses' Innovative Behaviour Scale and Person-Organisation Fit Scale and analysed via descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, regression analysis and bootstrap testing for mediation and moderation effects. Organisational innovation climate was positively correlated with nurses' innovative behaviour and knowledge sharing partially mediated this relationship. Person-organisation fit positively moderated both the direct relationship between organisational innovation climate and knowledge sharing and the indirect effect on innovative behaviour. Under a supportive organisational innovation climate, nurses with high person-organisation fit are more likely to engage in innovative behaviour through knowledge sharing. Establishing an organisational innovation climate and improving person-organisation fit can enhance nurses' work engagement and loyalty, advancing innovation and development in nursing. Nursing managers should cultivate an innovation-friendly climate and facilitate knowledge sharing to inspire proactive problem-solving and innovation among nurses, ultimately improving nursing practice and patient care. STROBE guidelines were followed. This study clarifies how organisational and individual factors jointly affect nurses' innovative behaviour, providing a theoretical foundation for improving nursing management, service quality and disciplinary innovation.

  • Nguyen Dinh Hoa + 4 more

The study seeks to investigate the relationship between knowledge sharing and innovation in garment and textile enterprises. While previous research has found many factors influencing knowledge sharing, little research has been done about the influence of knowledge sharing on innovation in enterprises in developing countries like Vietnam. In particular, the textile industry plays an important role in export, but outsourcing is accounting for a high proportion of trade; it is necessary to increase innovation in order to increase the competitive advantage by internal capacity. The data is collected from a survey of 245 employees at 20 textile and garment enterprises in Vietnam to study the knowledge sharing influence on innovation. The methodology includes pilot study and quantitative method. The pilot study tests the questionnaire on the respondents. The quantitative method applies SEM analysis to measure the knowledge sharing influence on innovation. The results identify eight factors that positively impact knowledge sharing: rewarding, teamwork, management support, joy of knowledge sharing, communication, trust, commitment, and information technology. This study also shows that knowledge sharing affects innovation. The main findings are discussed for textile and garment enterprises to apply innovative capacity in the context of increasing global integration.
