Performance ImprovementVolume 41, Issue 8 p. 25-27 Article Making training more like teaching Dougal Macdonald PhD, Dougal Macdonald PhD dougalma@connect.ab.ca Dr. Dougal MacDonald is a science educator and private consultant in instructional design and research. He began as a public school teacher and then moved on into post-secondary teaching and consulting. Dougal has presented research in science and technology education at international conferences and published articles in a number of international journals. Dougal received his doctoral and master's degrees in curriculum and instruction from the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He is currently full-time adjunct in the Department of Elementary Education at the University of Alberta, Edmonton. He has also taught at the University of Calgary and at East Texas State University. As a private consultant, he has produced training materials, competency assessment standards, needs assessments, and policy reports for a variety of clients.
