Abstract

Cloud technology has revolutionized computing infrastructure and the way software services are available to organizations and subscribers. Healthcare organizations are building their IT infrastructure to meet the data storage demand. IT infrastructure should be highly scalable and flexible. On the other hand cloud computing (CC) has become vital for organizations and sectors growing vastly to handle complex processes and data. CC best supports the IT infrastructure needs of healthcare organizations and Internet of Things (IoT) healthcare device data. Organizations lose ownership by migrating their applications and data onto third-party clouds. Global population is increasing day by day and more people are living in smart cities. The IoT devices collect the healthcare data from smart cities and store the data in cloud. The cloud has to ensure availability, trust, and privacy of the data and applications to the subscribers. Cloud technology has gained trust and confidentiality, and many healthcare organizations have migrated their data and applications related to healthcare records onto cloud. CC technology is playing a vital role in handling healthcare records. Healthcare records are stored on the cloud and made available to doctors and patients from anywhere and anytime. The doctors can diagnose quickly and start the treatment for patients. This helps doctors in saving the lives of critically ill patients. Maintaining healthcare records for a longer tenure will help doctors with improved diagnosis. The cloud-stored healthcare records can be integrated with AI engine for diagnosis and will support E-health applications. Healthcare organizations save huge money by subscribing to cloud services for storage and applications. The combination of IoT-related healthcare systems integrated with intelligent systems such as CC that provide smart objectives and applications is a promising future trend. This chapter discusses the challenges and techniques for handling the healthcare records on cloud. It also discusses various security models to manage the privacy of the healthcare records. It discusses the various mechanisms to store data and its integration with artificial intelligence, deep learning techniques for retrieval of hidden patterns in real time, and IoT healthcare data in smart cities.
