Abstract

Controlling or conservation of anchorage is an important aspect for a successful orthodontic treatment. Intra oral anchorage provides resistance to displacement and thus, forms the backbone of accomplishing the goals of orthodontic therapy. Previously, Extra oral anchorage devices were used but they proved to be bulky and unaesthetic, urging researchers to find better ways of anchorage preservation, leading to the development of Temporary anchorage device (TAD). Also called as Micro Implants due to their relatively small size and ease of placement, they offers clinician a reliable, patient friendly and a safe method of securing, maintaining and controlling anchorage.
