Abstract

Magnonic spin-transfer torque (STT) is introduced. In comparison with electronic STT, magnonic STT is more efficient in driving domain wall (DW) propagation along a magnetic nanowire because of the total spin wave transmission through a DW. Furthermore, the energy consumption is more than millions times lower than that by electronic STT when the magnonic STT is used to drive a DW to propagate at a practically useful speed.
