Abstract
It was found that the rate of decay of the remanent field obtained through magnetization of ferrimagnetic particles retained in the lungs of are welders is associated with factors such as amount of dust retained, occupational history and smoking habits. A faster decay rate was found to correlate with a faster clearance of welding fume particles in smokers
