Abstract

Magnetokinetic effects in the outer-sphere electron transfer between Co(sep)2+ and Cl2 were investigated between 0 and 7 T. The dependence of this reaction rate constant on the magnetic induction bears similarities to those observed in other outer-sphere electron-transfer reactions of Co coordination compounds. Sources of such effects are discussed on the basis of the quantum-mechanical electron-transfer theory.
