Abstract
Measurements of magnetic instabilities in melt-textured YBa 2Cu 3O 7 are reported. Exposing the samples to an external varying magnetic field, flux jumps are observed which are preceded by oscillations of the magnetization and the temperature of the sample. In the discussion, a model which is based on local and integral non-adiabaticity is presented, which can explain the observations qualitatively.
