Abstract

Abstract We show that 1d ferrimagnetism may be observed either in bimetallic compounds or in homometallic ones formed by alternating sites or by discrete species containing an odd number of metal ions. We report in this paper several examples of bimetallic chains featuring 1d ferrimagnetism; we also discuss the conditions for the occurrence of long-range ferrimagnetic ordering at low temperature.
