Abstract

A new density of states curve for a series of Zr, Nb and Mo metals and their alloys is obtained from new data of low temperature specific heat for this series on the basis of the rigid band model. Temperature variations of electronic specific heat and spin paramagnetic susceptibility for Zr, Nb and Mo metals are calculated by using the new density of states. These are compared with the previously calculated results and experimental ones. Both old and new calculated results are qualitatively similar at high temperatures. For Nb metal the new value of the low temperature specific heat coefficient is found to be fairly smaller than the old one, so that the sign of the molecular field coefficient α, which is estimated by comparison between temperature variations of the observed and calculated susceptibilities, becomes positive in contrast to the negative value of α estimated in the previous work.
