Abstract

The advent of CT scanning made possible the discovery of many hitherto occult brain lesions, including those of traumatic etiology. This modality has proven invaluable in the routine management of acute head injury. Magnetic resonance scanning, on the other hand, has limited usefulness in the acutely head injured patient. Magnetic scanning, may, however, later disclose occult brain lesions incurred in combat. Selected individuals may have cerebral injuries disclosed only by the magnetic resonance scan.
