Abstract

Amorphous Fe 1− x B x alloy particles, prepared by a chemical reduction method, and ribbons, produced by the melt-spin method, have been investigated by Mössbauer spectroscopy. The average magnetic hyperfine fields and isomer shifts for ribbons and particles are found to resemble each other, but the hyperfine field distributions for the particles are significantly wider than for the ribbons. This indicates that the two types of alloys have slightly different amorphous structures.
