Abstract
For future generation of magneto-optical (MO) media novel techniques make possible the read out of domains smaller than the optical diffraction limit. The super resolution read out mechanism is based on a temperature induced spin reorientation’ and a signal amplification’ due to a domain expansion in an amorphous ferrimagnetic Gd-TM alloy film (TM transition metal: Fe,Co), which determines the optical aperture:
