Integrating local wisdom into education systems is crucial for preserving cultural identity and enhancing educational quality in the modern era. Madura Island possesses traditional values potentially applicable to pedagogical project management. However, the effective utilization of these values in contemporary pedagogical project management remains poorly understood. Existing research predominantly focuses on specific aspects of the curriculum or teaching methods, such as integrating cultural values into learning materials, employing local wisdom-based teaching methods, and adopting learning approaches contextual to Madurese culture. Still, there is a noticeable gap in the literature regarding how Madurese local wisdom values can be systematically operationalized in education project management, including planning processes that involve local stakeholders, implementation that respects local customs, and evaluation methods rooted in local values. To explore how Madurese cultural values can be effectively utilized in pedagogical project management to create a more in-depth and contextually relevant approach, this study employed a mixed-method approach with a sequential explanatory design. The first phase involved a quantitative survey of 230 education stakeholders in Madura using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The second phase included in-depth interviews and participatory observations in five schools, analyzed using NVivo 14. SEM results revealed a significant positive relationship between the integration of Madurese local wisdom values and pedagogical project management effectiveness. Qualitative analysis showed these values strengthen decision-making structures and community commitment to educational projects. This research demonstrates that incorporating Madurese local wisdom values can enhance pedagogical project management effectiveness, making an important contribution to developing a contextualized and sustainable pedagogical project management model. This model has potential applications across various cultural contexts in Indonesia and globally. By adopting this model, education in Madura is expected to be not only more effective but also rich with local cultural values, creating a deep and meaningful learning experience for students.

The role of local wisdom, cultural values, and religious values on cultivating social awareness and enhancing integrity in students
 • Sep 27, 2024
 • International Journal of Education and Practice
 • Muhamad Uyun + 4 more

This study investigates the dynamics between local wisdom, cultural values, and religious values in fostering social awareness and improving student integrity. The research design is based on an explanatory model with a quantitative method approach. The results showed that religious values have no effect on student integrity; cultural values have an effect on student integrity; local wisdom has an effect on student integrity; social awareness affects student integrity; there is no effect of local wisdom on student integrity with the mediation of social awareness; social awareness is proven to indirectly mediate the effect of cultural values on student integrity; and social awareness is proven to indirectly mediate the effect of religious values on student integrity. The conclusion shows a clear relationship between local wisdom, cultural values, and religious values in their effect on student integrity; religious values alone have no effect. However, another finding is that the influence of cultural and religious values increases student integrity because social awareness has moderate effects. Social awareness has a direct effect on student integrity rather than acting as a mediator between cultural values and local wisdom. This research fills a gap in existing literature by exploring the collective effects and interactions of cultural and religious values on integrity mediated by social awareness, thereby offering insights for educational frameworks aiming to develop morally grounded and socially aware students.

Abstract

The problem of this research is how can the local cultural values in Al-Azhar Tafsir. The purpose of this research is knowing local culture values in Al-Azhar Tafsir and analyzing the purpose of HAMKA putting local cultural values ini Al-Azhar Tafsir. The method of this research is library research and uses a study approach of character studies andcontent analytics. Researchers found that HAMKA's attitude was divided into two in linking local cultural values in Al Azhar's Tafsir. First, wanting to preserve local cultural values such as Aphorism, Verse, Poetry, Parable, Pameo and others. The second, strongly opposed and warned people of traditions that were contrary to Islamic Shari'a such as "adorig sea", giving offerings and others. And among the main objectives of HAMKA to include local cultural values was to approach Islamic da'wah to Indonesian people through local cultural values in its interpretation. And also introduce to the world of readers about Malay identity and Local Wisdom. And it also contained an invitation to noble morals as Religion and Culture motivate it and there were also politic and ethical politic invitations because at the time of writing this interpretation, the Indonesian political atmosphere was currently unstable. Therefore, it is very good to make Al Azhar's Tafsir become one of the references in preaching Islam on this Malay Earth and hopefully in the future there will be a Ilmiyah Figure and Study that combines Islamic Sharia and Local Cultural Values in a fair and balanced way.

Keywords: Local Wisdom, Values and Al-Azhar Tafsir

This research focuses on the use of strategy of social studies teachers in implementing the values and meaning of Betawi Ethnic local wisdom in social studies learning process. Therefore, the teacher is able to be more creative, innovative and contextual in teaching and learning processes as an attempt to implement character learning to students. This study employs a qualitative method through phenomenological approach by looking closely at the strategies used by teachers in implementing the value of local wisdom in Betawi culture. The results of this study indicate that local Betawi cultural values can be used as a form of approach in learning of developing student character so that the learning process will be more meaningful. One of the learning methods applied by social subject teachers at Almaka IT Middle School is first, by applying a Role play - a method used to imitate someone behaviour. The behavior implemented on the classroom is that related to Betawi culture such as the tradition of Palang Pintu(reciprocated distinctive betawi poetry), performing kicir-kicir(a name of betawi particular song) and promoting Betawi distinctive cuisine. After performing the role play, next the teacher told the moral feedback from these cultural traditions to their students. Secondly, the strategy of implementing the local wisdom values of Betawi culture is applied outside of learning by making it as habit activities to be carried out at Almaka IT Middle School to instill the values of religious character, togetherness, mutual cooperation, self-confidence and others in the real activities. As a conclusion, local culture can build civilization particularly for humans as cultural actors who is able to formulate the cultural on its ontological level.

 • Robert Sibarani + 2 more

Background/Objectives: This article is aimed at seeking Toba Batak’s local wisdoms, for instance, its types and cultural values, which are potential for the development of character building in the regions. Methods: The study of local wisdoms and cultural values for the development of regional character building in the North Tapanuli, Central Tapanuli, Toba Samosir, Humbang Hasundutan and Samosir regencies was made on the basis of anthropolinguistic analysis. Components of performance, indexicality, and participation can be considered effective in the assessment to text, cotext and context of local wisdoms. Three auxiliary components were paid attention, namely, interconnection, valuability, and sustainability. Findings: Local wisdoms of Toba Batak try to reach some values, such as, trustworthy, polite and respectful, honest, promoting togetherness and convention, tolerant and harmonious, responsible and committed, caring, and grateful. These local people are hoped to have the following characteristics: hard working, dilligent, disciplinary, mutually assisting, and environmental caring. These are called working ethics. Therefore, Toba Batak has eight cultural values, for instance, paradaton ‘being a custom’, partuturon \'kinship\', parsaoran dalihan natolu ‘interaction of three customary parties”, tanda habatahon ‘marders of Bataknese identity\', hagabeon ‘posterity and long life’, hamoraon ‘welfare’, hasangapon \'honor\', and haporseaon ‘faith, belief”. These values produced eight auxiliary values: maradat \'customary, civilized’, martutur \'being involved in kinship\', parsaor ‘friendly; interactive to the three customary parties’, marhabatahon \'being identified as Batakness marker\', marroha hagabeon \'being hopeful of long life and good posterity\', marhamoraon \'hopeful of being welfare’, marhasangapon \'hopeful of honor\', and marhaporseaon ‘having good faith’. The purpose of this research is to (1) find out students' understanding (PGSD) of local wisdom values (Toraja) in the era of globalization, (2) find out the supporting and inhibiting factors of the transformation of Toraja local wisdom values, (3) find out the efforts made to introduce the values of local wisdom (Toraja) in the era of globalization. The research method used is qualitative. Data obtained through observation and interviews. This research is one of the efforts to develop teaching materials based on Toraja local wisdom, especially students of the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program. The results of the study show that the transformation of cultural values in students, especially in the Elementary School Teacher Education study program, is still very limited or lacking. This is because they only hear these local values during certain events such as the old signs or solo signs. Factors supporting the transformation of Toraja local cultural values are that there are still many community leaders who understand these values, and there are courses that are relevant to local cultural wisdom such as culture-based character education courses. Local wisdom values can be integrated into these courses. Meanwhile, what becomes an obstacle or challenge in the transformation of cultural values is the limited number of students listening to local wisdom values.

Pluralism and Justice in Indonesian Inheritance Law: A Comparative Analysis of Customary, Islamic, and Civil Systems
 • Sep 30, 2025
 • KALOSARA: Family Law Review
 • Abdul Ali Mutammima Amar Alhaq + 4 more

The pluralism of inheritance law in Indonesia, encompassing customary law, Islamic law, and the Civil Code, reflects the country’s cultural, religious, and legal diversity. Despite accommodating such diversity, overlapping norms, divergent distribution principles, gender biases, and legal uncertainty remain significant challenges. Limited integrated comparative studies that analyze these three inheritance systems, considering gender and local cultural values, constitute a research gap. This study aims to: (1) conduct a normative-comparative analysis of principles, norms, and inheritance distribution mechanisms across the three legal regimes; (2) evaluate the implications of pluralism for equal rights, legal certainty, and potential disputes through statutory regulations, court decisions, and academic literature; and (3) propose a harmonization model that is inclusive, culturally sensitive, and grounded in substantive justice and gender equality. The study analyzes legislation, documented customary law, and relevant court decisions using a normative juridical and comparative approach. Theoretical frameworks include Legal Pluralism (Griffiths), Substantive Justice (Rawls), and Legal Harmonization (Otto). Findings indicate that, without harmonization, pluralism exacerbates legal uncertainty and gender inequality. A model based on local values and gender equality effectively reduces disputes and strengthens legal certainty, implying the need for national policies with technical guidelines for inclusive, culturally sensitive inheritance law harmonization that safeguards all citizens’ rights. The Existence of Tourism and Local Culture: A Study of the TALC Tourism Model in Bali
 • Nov 7, 2024
 • Revista de Gestão Social e Ambiental
 • Wulan Purnama Sari + 4 more

Objective: This research was conducted with the aim of conducting a study on the sustainability of tourism in Bali, exploring the reasons for how Bali maintains its existence as a leading tourist destination, amid the challenges and obstacles faced, associated with the tourism life cycle model proposed by Butler. This research focuses on how tourism can adapt to the changes that occur. This is also the novelty of this research, which provides a description of how a tourist area that is already in the superior stage continues to maintain its status and existence, while adapting to the changes that occur. The novelty in this research includes a holistic approach that not only emphasizes economic benefits, but also social, cultural, and environmental aspects to maintain the sustainability of tourism and the preservation of local culture. Theoretical Framework: This research focus on tourism communication using model TALC by Butler. Method: This research uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. Researchers chose a qualitative approach and phenomenological method with the aim of being able to describe and analyze the direct experiences of the interviewees related to tourism life in Bali. Qualitative research allows researchers to explore the subjective experiences of the interviewees. Results and Discussion: Based on the research results, it was concluded that Bali tourism is now in the sixth stage of Butler's TALC cycle model, namely decline or revitalization. Problems such as pollution, environmental damage, and the loss of local Balinese cultural values have the potential to accelerate the decline if not addressed properly. However, revitalization efforts have begun, with local and national governments starting to pay attention to the development of sustainable tourism. Programs to preserve the environment, maintain cultural balance, and limit development in sensitive areas have begun to be implemented. In addition, community-based tourism development has also been introduced to empower local communities and maintain Balinese cultural values. Research Implications: Bali's existence as a tourist destination will continue to live as long as the Balinese people continue to apply their local cultural values and practices in their daily lives. These local cultural values and practices remain a magnet for attracting tourists to come and visit Bali, coupled with innovation and revitalization to continue to preserve local culture in Bali. Originality/Value: This study contributes to the literature of tourism communication theory by examing the implementation of model TALC by Butler.

Integration Of Local Wisdom In Environmental Management: Environmental Ethics Perspective And Harmonization Of National Law
 • May 29, 2025
 • International Journal of Science and Environment (IJSE)
 • Ismelina Farma Rahayu + 4 more

Environmental damage that occurs in various countries today requires a new approach to environmental management, where conventional methods that rely on technology and modern laws have not been able to overcome the complexity of contemporary environmental problems. Indonesia as a country with cultural diversity has a wealth of traditional knowledge that has proven effective in preserving nature for centuries. This research aims to analyze how to integrate local wisdom into the national environmental management system through the perspective of environmental ethics and find a model for harmonizing national law with local values without eliminating legal certainty. The research method uses a normative juridical approach with statutory, conceptual, and philosophical analysis through literature study of primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials with descriptive qualitative analysis and deductive reasoning. The results show that Indonesian local wisdom has advantages in applying the principles of sustainable environmental ethics through an ecocentric approach that recognizes the intrinsic value of nature, in contrast to modern approaches that tend to be anthropocentric. Harmonization between national law and customary law systems requires a legal pluralism approach that recognizes the coexistence of both systems to create synergies in environmental management. The implementation model of local wisdom integration must be adapted to the specific characteristics of each region through a bottom-up participatory methodology that places local communities as active subjects in the planning, implementation and evaluation of environmental policies to realize sustainable environmental management based on local cultural values.
