Abstract

A straightforward method for the preparation of macroporous films from acetylated lignin and cellulose as precursors for smart coatings based on regenerated wood via dry cast was developed. Series of coatings with different casting solutions were performed, and coating surfaces were analyzed by Laser Scanning Microscopy. The necessity to achieve simultaneous polymer demixing during dry cast operations was demonstrated, and the crucial role played by the solvent/non-solvent ratio was highlighted. The successfully prepared coatings exhibit a well-formed macroporous structure and wood-like appearance.
