Abstract

Joaquim Maria Machado de Assis amava a Itália, a sua literatura e seus poetas, entre os quais se destacam Dante, Loepardi, Tasso. Ele tinha uma predileção especial para o teatro e a opera italianos e admirava alguns entre os seus representantes mais famosos, como Adelaide Ristori, Ernesto Rossi, Anetta Casaloni e Augusta Candiani. Na Itália é conhecido somente nas Universidades e em círculos restritos de estudiosos.
