Abstract

We discuss the nature of the unknown line recently observed by Timofeev and Chernenko in the luminescence spectra of stressed Ge in a strong magnetic field [JETP Lett. 61 (1995) 617] as a biexcitonic line. The optical spectra of a semiconductor are considered for different magnetic field strengths on the basis of the solution describing the interaction of hydrogen-like excitons. The possibility of electron-hole liquid formation is also considered.
