Abstract
ABSTRACT Magneto optical (MO) disks have shown great advantages in performance, reliability, price per bit, portability, rewritecycles, high-density recording, and achieve life. For a 3.5' ISO standard MO media, the capacity of 1X-density disks is128MB, and 5X density disks have 540MB/640MB capacity,, with track and bit density increased.Media testing is very important in research and manufacture ofthe disks.A media testing system for the characteristics ofthe recording layer ofthe 5X capacity MO disks is introduced in this paper.Many features and techniques are discussed such as to achieve high accuracy testing, flexibility to upgrade the systemKeywords: Magneto optical disk, rewritable optical disk, optical disk drive 1.
