Abstract
An adult female Amblyomma longirostre (Koch, 1844) was collected on a propane tank in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma, on 24 September 2005 and submitted to the Plant Disease and Insect Diagnostic Lab (PDIDL) at Oklahoma State University. This is the first recorded collection of a free-living adult female A. longirostre in the United States, although there are multiple reports of immature ticks on migrating birds from South and Central America.
