Abstract

The localization and distribution of Met-enhephalin (M-ENK)-, Leu-enhephalin (L-ENK)- and Met-enkephalin-Arg-Gly-Leu (M-ENK-AGL)-like immunoreactivities (LI) in the guinea pig pancreas were studied by means of Sternberger's peroxidase-antiperoxidase (PAP) method. Hartley Strain guinea pigs were used in this study. The pancreas was perfusion-fixed with Zamboni's solution -and tissues were processed for immunostainings. Adrenal medullary cells were employed as staining control. Immunoreactivitres for M-ENK, L-EMK and M-ENK-AGL, proenhephalin A-derived opioid peptides, were localised in nerve elements with a similar distribution pattern
