Abstract

SrCo 1.5 Ti 1.5 Fe 9 O 19 hexagonal ferrite powder was synthesized by solid state reaction route. The X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed the formation of pure hexagonal ferrite phase at 1200°C. The effects of B 2 O 3 sintering additive on the sintering behavior at 900°C and the properties of the ferrite have been investigated. There was very little densification at 900°C in the case of pure ferrite, while ferrite containing 5 wt% B 2 O 3 additive showed denser microstructure and increased grain growth. Both permittivity and permeability were enhanced in 5 wt% B 2 O 3 added ferrite due to better densification. These results indicate that B 2 O 3 is a good sintering additive and can be applicable in the low-temperature co-fired ceramics (LTCC) multilayer device technology. A ferrite antenna based on low temperature sintered SrCo 1.5 Ti 1.5 Fe 9 O 19 ferrite material is proposed for thehigh-frequency application. Antenna parameters such as resonant frequency, return loss, voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR), and gain were simulated and reported.
