Abstract
As the application of surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices becomes more widespread the need has arisen for improvements in insertion loss and temperature stability at higher operating frequencies. This paper reviews these areas of SAW technology and presents results on a low insertion loss structure based upon the Single Phase Unidirectional Transducer (SPUDTI. This approach is shown to give devices with excellent performance whilst design, fabrication and application remain relatively straight forward.
