Abstract

Pemphigus vulgaris (PV) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by blistering that affects stratified squamous epithelium. It affects the skin and mucous membranes. The treatment of the disease is performed with high doses of corticosteroids. The low-level laser has been studied, and its therapeutic effects are anti-inflammation, analgesia, and tissue repair. We report 2 clinical cases: The first affected a female patient with erosions and ulcers lesions on the lip and intraoral mucosa who was complaining of severe pain. Low-level laser therapy was used at 660 nm and 780 nm with a fluency of 8 J/cm2 per point. It has resulted in improvement in pain and regression of later oral lesions. It is concluded that the low-level laser was effective in the treatment of oral lesions of pemphigus vulgaris, enabling improvement of pain and improving the quality of life of the patient.
