Abstract

Results obtained during autumn and winter of 1978–1979 are used to demonstrate that low‐frequency drift measurements provide a useful means of permanently monitoring the circulation and tidal wind systems in the upper mesopause region (90–100 km) and represent a valuable supplement to the ground‐based instrumental pool, particularly with regard to the forthcoming middle atmosphere program (MAP).
