Abstract

Abstract The infrared absorption spectra of gaseous and liquid CF3CHF2 were examined in the region from 500 to 60 cm−1. The Raman spectrum of the liquid at room temperature was also photographed. In the gas-phase spectrum, bands were observed at 414, 363, 306, 246, 216 and 82 cm−1. The contour of the medium-intensity band at 82 cm−1 was consistent with that to be expected for torsional oscillation. This frequency would correspond to a triple cosine barrier of 4.4 kcal/mol.
