Abstract
ABSTRACTIn this study, the attitudes of Louisiana pharmacists toward both general and pharmacy-related health care reform issues as referent objects were measured by their responses to attitude scales. Two scales were constructed, one for general health care reform issues and the other for pharmacy-related health care reform issues. While the responding pharmacists showed a significant (p < 0.001) negative attitude toward the general health care reform issues, their attitude toward the pharmacy-related issues was essentially neutral. No significant differences were found in the attitudes of the pharmacists attributable to demographic variables. As neither set of attitudes was positive, it appears that the respondents do not feel that health care reform legislation will benefit the health care system.
