Abstract
This paper applies a technique for waveform data compression to Ultra Wideband (UWB) radar integer data. The method uses an Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation (ADPCM) scheme to output a integer residual sequence for transmission, storage, or further encoding. The ADPCM implementation considered uses an adaptive Frequency Sampling predictor that is equivalent to an adaptive Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT). To reconstruct the original integer data, only the initial adaptive filter parameters are needed in addition to the integer residual sequence. Results show that the original integer sequence can be recovered without loss and that the standard deviation of the data is reduced.
