Abstract
Los testimonios sobre el proceso de creación escultórica son escasos en la España del Renacimiento. Gaspar Becerra (1520–68), formado en Italia, se convirtió junto a Alonso Berruguete en paradigma del escultor. Sin embargo su papel fue el de un gran director de equipo, especialmente a la hora de tallar la madera. Siguiendo el método italiano no sólo facilitaba dibujos sino también pequeños modelos que eran realizados por sus discípulos. El uso de esos modelos y su reiteración contribuyeron a la uniformidad, y también al agotamiento, del movimiento artístico que en España se ha denominado Romanismo.
