Abstract
Progesterone is extensively used in clinical practice: during the first trimester of pregnancy as part of assisted reproductive technologies and for the prevention of preterm birth. Knowledge regarding potential benefits and harms of this treatment is therefore crucial in order to effectively counsel women with regards to their management (Di Renzo GC, et al, Gynecol Endocrinol. 2012 Nov;28(11):925-32). In this issue of BJOG, Simons et al present the results of a thorough systematic review and meta-analysis on the long-term consequences of prenatally administered progesterone (BJOG 2020 xxxx).
