Abstract

In this paper, a scheme for realizing the switch duty cycle above a normal 0.5 by including the load side voltage in series with the supply voltage for the demagnetization of the transformer core, has been presented. A wide duty cycle is essential in many converters, especially, in a forward converter. The usefulness of the present scheme is that no extra circuitry is required for this purpose. Also, as the load voltage is stepped up, the duty cycle widens correspondingly. A 24 W, 24 V output converter is analyzed and presented, to validate the proposed idea through simulation results.
