Abstract

Ecotourism development is an effort to develop sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism so that it can be enjoyed for a more extended period. Ecotourism does not only offer travel but creates an element of learning in it. As a result, managing sustainable tourism destinations related to governance in carrying out tourism activities is increasingly important. In this paper, the approach used in the literature review is collected from several publishers such as emerald, Wiley, research gate, science direct, and Thomson and then studied systematically, which is related to this paper, totalling 50 articles. The purpose of this paper is to present a conceptual framework for ecotourism that combines the concept of 4a's tourism as a framework for identifying and developing tourist destinations. This paper explores the essence of ecotourism related to sustainable tourism through the 4A component of tourism. The findings show that ecotourism contributes differently to other tourism depending on the sub-topics raised. It can be underlined that the literature review is long-term research integrated between ecotourism management and stakeholders such as the government, residents and consumers needed to carry out ecotourism literacy for the environment.
