Abstract
As one of the important land surface parameters, land surface temperature plays an important role in monitoring agricultural drought, global change, meteorological forecast, water cycle, urban heat island etc. However, cloud pattern becomes one of the main obstacles to inversion of land surface temperature inevitably. Take Landsat 8 OLI as an example, firstly, a new cloud pattern detection algorithm is proposed on the basis of the results of previous methods, in this algorithm, cloud patterns are divided into three categories: cloud, cloud shadow and cloud cover; Then, the sensitivity of this algorithm to different seasons and different regions are analyzed. Finally, the effect of cloud cover on land surface is discussed. The results show that the new algorithm can identify cloud, cloud shadow and cloud cover effectively in different regions and different season assuming that cloud and cloud shadow have similar shape, and the accuracy can satisfy the needs of research. The findings of this study can further specify the influence of cloud pattern on land surface temperature change and effectively promote all-weather the inversion of land surface temperature.
