Abstract

Linguistic, religious, ethnic and cultural identity is an aspect of the identity of all people. As for the persons who are part of the category of national minorities, the roblematics of these identities is intensely debated by the legal doctrine and regulated by various normative acts adopted at international level. The rights to which the four types of identities refer bring to the fore the obligation of States to respect them in order to preserve, consolidate and develop them and to encourage diversity, which must be seen not as a threat but as a means of cultural enrichment.
