Abstract

Abstract Synthetic aperture processing performed on linear scans with contact ultrasonic transducers can yield useful improvements in lateral resolution of deeply buried defects. Degradation in resolution caused by adverse surface conditions can be minimised by a simple pre-processing normalisation technique.
